Curiosity, with an evidence standard.

How we handle claims, sources, uncertainty, corrections and AI-assisted research.

A compelling story deserves a clear account of what is known, who said it, and what remains unsupported.

Our evidence labels

Label familyWhat it meansWhat it does not mean
Official & scientificA traceable government record, official broadcast, measurement or published research result.Every interpretation in a record is correct or every unresolved case is extraordinary.
AnalysisAn explanation of methods, assumptions or evidence, attributed where appropriate. An inference is a direct observation.
Attributed claimsA named speaker or identifiable source makes the claim. The claim is independently corroborated.
Unverified accountAn extraordinary factual allegation lacks the corroboration described in the article. We have demonstrated that every element of the account is false.
Texts & folkloreA story, belief, textual tradition or reported description is being studied in context.A surviving text establishes every event in its narrative or an alien taxonomy.

Primary sources come first

For government reporting we prefer the document, recording or official statement. For science we link the original study and clearly distinguish a preprint from reviewed research. For a podcast claim we identify the actual speaker and original episode. For an ancient text we identify the translation, manuscript or scholarly edition.

A source may establish a narrow fact. A museum catalogue confirms the identity and context assigned to an object. A podcast confirms that a claim was made. Neither automatically supplies independent proof of a larger theory. Claimant websites are labeled as such.

Dates and uncertainty stay visible

We distinguish the date of an event, the date a source was published, our editorial publication date and the date sources were checked. We avoid unsupported “breaking” labels, invented live feeds, and percentages that erase incompatible categories or time windows.

Absence of an explanation is not positive evidence for one particular explanation. Equally, uncertainty should not be disguised as a definitive debunking. If a case constrains speed but leaves identity unresolved, our wording preserves both findings.

AI and imagery

This edition uses AI-assisted source research, original writing and site production. It has not received independent expert review. Named people are not given invented quotes, credentials or biographies. Generated illustrations are labeled and never presented as evidence, archival reconstructions or genuine photographs of an encounter.

Photographs and video stills have a media-rights record. Context images are identified as context, especially where an image shows a different astronomical target or ancient object. Read the media ledger.

Corrections and updates

When a material error is identified, the article should be corrected, its modification date updated, and a dated note added describing what changed. Substantive corrections are not silently rewritten as if the original statement had never appeared. Minor spelling or formatting fixes do not require a correction note.

No substantive post-publication corrections are recorded in this founding edition. Publication updates and correction notes can be followed through the RSS feed.

Reader submissions and public correspondence intake are not open in this edition. We do not display a form that pretends to deliver a message.

Commercial independence

This edition contains no paid advertising placements, affiliate links or sponsored articles. The original video providers may display advertising within their players. Any future paid partnership should be disclosed near the relevant material.
